Reinventing Dracula
This was the last and largest game I worked on in my first semester of the graduate program. House of Vampires is a puzzle-horror game where your only goal is to escape Dracula's castle before he catches you. For this project we had to design our core mechanics around the verb "Carry".
Transitioning to Jira
This project was my first time using Jira in practice for a project & I quickly became comfortable with the software. The team were all able to pick it up very quickly and I think it had a major impact in keeping everyone on track & engaged with their tasks. I also found it offered a lot more features than previous project-management software I've used. Having a clear and easy to access timeline available helped the team never feel lost on where our progress is at or needs to be.
During this project, I was the main person responsible for keeping the whole team on pace with our planned timeline, as well as handling our weekly announcements & standups. This was the first time I ever worked with another person on UI work and I think we quickly became a great duo and the results really spoke for themselves. Being able to focus mainly on the in-engine design of the interfaces alowed me to try more complex ideas that usually were out of scope in previous projects.
The biggest area I could have improved on, looking back at the project, was working with the other producers. This was my first project working with other producers and think with better communication, the project could have avoided less issues and a sharper direction for development.
